Home nursing subsidies & the Home Caregiving Grant
Home nursing in Singapore can be partly covered by government support if you're eligible. Here's a plain-English guide to what exists, who qualifies, and how to apply — so you can work out your real out-of-pocket cost.

The Home Caregiving Grant (HCG)
A monthly cash payout for families caring for someone assessed as having at least moderate disability (needing help with activities of daily living). It can go towards home nursing and caregiving costs. Amount depends on household income. See the amounts and who qualifies.
AIC-subsidised home nursing
Eligible Singapore Citizens and PRs can receive subsidised home nursing arranged through the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC). Subsidy levels are means-tested on household income, and can bring the cost of a visit down substantially for lower-income households. How means-testing works.
Other support to know about
- Pioneer & Merdeka Generation — extra MediSave top-ups, outpatient subsidies and (for Pioneers) a monthly disability cash payout. What they get.
- MediSave — mostly for chronic-disease care rather than nursing visits. Can you use MediSave for home nursing?
- MediSave Care — lets those with severe disability withdraw a monthly sum from MediSave for long-term care.
- CareShield Life / ElderShield — provides monthly payouts on a successful severe-disability claim.
- IDAPE — support for an older group not covered by CareShield Life.
How to apply
- A disability assessment is usually needed — often arranged through your hospital or a GP.
- Applications and means-testing go through AIC.
- If you're being discharged from hospital, ask the ward's care team to start the referral before discharge.
Subsidised vs private — the honest version
Subsidised care is cheaper if you qualify, but can involve a wait. Private care starts immediately and has predictable, published prices. Many families use private care to bridge the gap while a subsidy application is processed. See our pricing, or read about a home nurse.
