What happens during the visit
- The nurse confirms the patient's details and positions them comfortably.
- The existing NG tube is removed.
- A new tube is passed and its position confirmed before any feed is given.
- The tube is secured and the feeding plan confirmed with the family.
- A written visit summary is left for the patient's own doctor.

People who are fed through a nasogastric tube at home and need it replaced on schedule, often after a stroke or where swallowing is unsafe.
How often: An NG feeding tube is usually changed every 4–6 weeks.
